University of Nevada, Las Vegas Simplifies Proposal Generation with Jetbuilt

University of Nevada, Las Vegas creates customized proposals for on-campus A/V integration within minutes with Jetbuilt

Newport Beach, Calif. — May 22, 2019 — University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is a public research university educating over 30,000 students on a 332-acre campus just two miles east of the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. UNLV offers more than 350 bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in varying fields, which are taught by 850 faculty members. UNLV is home to the nation’s leading hospitality and hotel administration program, William F. Harrah College of Hospitality and Hotel Administration; the only dental school in Nevada, University Medical Center of Southern Nevada; and the only law school in Nevada, William S. Boyd School of Law.

UNLV’s Classroom Technology Services is responsible for A/V integration throughout the diverse campus, creating customized proposals for internal clients, collaborating with a local integrator, and overseeing each integration from conception to completion. The Classroom Technology Services has standardized Jetbuilt to create more customized, streamlined proposals for internal clients in a fraction of the time.

“We integrated Jetbuilt into our daily workflow over a year ago and we just recently renewed the software for a second year,” said Frank Alaimo, CTS-I, DMC-E-4K, AV/IT Systems Specialist for University of Nevada, Las Vegas Classroom Technology Services. “Our Classroom Technology Services has been buried with AV installations and yet continue to provide our faculty and students with high-quality AV integration throughout the campus. Jetbuilt’s proposal generation has cut my project proposal time in half.”

UNLV’s Classroom Technology Services invested in other proposal generation systems, prior to Jetbuilt, only to find they were missing the mark. “Prior to Jetbuilt, we were using spreadsheets and anything we could find to create a proposal for our internal departments,” noted Alaimo. “We invested in a cloud-based proposal, system design and project management software for low voltage systems integrators but it was too complex. While using the previous software, I found myself having to create my own line drawing and equipment lists – It was set up directly for an integrator or a consultant.”

For UNLV’s Classroom Technology Services, the path to Jetbuilt came through a local integration firm, CCS Presentations. “Our integrator, CCS Presentations, recommended that we take a look at Jetbuilt after learning about our pain points with previous software,” said Alaimo. “We were immediately impressed – Jetbuilt provided us with all the features we needed in a simplified, easy-to-use format. Jetbuilt is designed for integrators and consultants, but it is far more user-friendly for an end-user like me than anything I have ever experienced. I feel like I’m a vendor when I’m using Jetbuilt.”

Established in 1957, UNLV has transformed itself from a small branch college to a thriving urban research institution. In addition, UNLV hosts many national events, including the 2007 NBA All-Star game, concerts and lectures by Bill Clinton and Mikhail Gorbachev, and a 2016 presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

“UNLV’s Classroom Technology Services and the university itself have grown significantly, which makes it critical for us to streamline our procedures,” said Alaimo. “Jetbuilt allows us to develop in-depth project proposals, house our product lists, and create reports to analyze how much we’re using from specific brands, such as Crestron and Hitachi, in a fraction of the time. Plus, we’ve not only been able to cut our proposal generation time, but we’re able to create customized, professional proposals.”

UNLV’s Classroom Technology Services oversees all on-campus integration in various academic and professional schools, colleges and divisions on the Paradise-based campus. “Although we have a large, growing and diverse campus, we complete a significant number of projects that are similar,” said Alaimo. “For example, a faculty member will see me installing a system in one room and want it for their own room. With Jetbuilt, I can copy and paste a proposal, update a few details, and have a professional proposal in a matter of minutes. We use the proposals to budget for the installation and, once the project is approved, it’s turned over to CCS Presentations to complete the installation. With Jetbuilt’s sharing feature, we can quickly enter the contact for CCS Presentation and they’re able to receive a copy of the proposal and provide us with a quote, almost instantly.”

Jetbuilt has allowed UNLV’s Classroom Technology Services to create a far less time consuming and accurate proposal process, meanwhile, customize specific features in the software that are tailored to UNLV. “Jetbuilt has cut my project time significantly,” noted Alaimo. “The ability to duplicate projects has saved me an immense amount of time. I’m able to shave roughly 25% of my time for a unique project and an average of half the time for a copied, spec project. Plus, we receive specialized pricing from specific manufacturers due to partnerships and our status as a university and, with Jetbuilt, I can update pricing to reflect our personal accounts.”

During UNLV’s Classroom Technology Services recent conference, they shared their positive experience using Jetbuilt with other universities in attendance. “I would absolutely recommend Jetbuilt, and, during our recent conference, I referred Jetbuilt to many other universities in attendance,” explained Alaimo. “There are other universities with a similar situation to ours at UNLV, and they could certainly benefit from Jetbuilt. Now that I’ve used Jetbuilt for over a year, I couldn’t imagine using anything else. I believe any department that handles project building can benefit from a software like Jetbuilt.”

Scott Menter, CTS, DMC-E-4K, Manager of Classroom Technology Services for UNLV added, “My responsibility as a manager is to remove roadblocks and give my employees the resources they need to be successful. Jetbuilt is one of those resources we needed internally to create a professional, standardized estimate for our internal clients. At UNLV, every renovation or new building project that has an AV component is run through Classroom Technology Services. Jetbuilt is a time saver that we have become to rely on.”

Jetbuilt has streamlined proposal generation for a growing number of facilities, including universities, worship facilities, theme parks and hospitals. Paul Dexter, Founder of Jetbuilt, explains “Jetbuilt was designed not just for consultants and integrators, but for technology managers, in-house integration departments, and facilities managers.
